Bellport Residence

Bellport, NY

Project Description

This residence sits up on an 18-foot bluff overlooking Bellport Bay on the south shore of Long Island.  In the distance is Fire Island and the Atlantic Ocean.  The house replaces a single-story ranch built in 1949 that was not worthy of the site or the view.  The existing house was demolished and a new two-story structure was designed to take its place.  The lot is narrow and deep with private hedges on either side.  It was built for a retired couple and their two grown children and was designed for entertaining, while also working well for just the couple themselves with all the major living spaces, including the primary bedroom, on the first floor.

With a modern take on the classic Shingle Style, this house is stately to the street-side entry with a formal porch and more celebratory to the rear with an open deck and screen porch. The home takes advantage of both the view and the location with most of the living spaces and three of the five bedrooms focused to the south and the bay.

The interior of the house is flawlessly detailed in the classic, traditional style creating a comfortable and inviting environment. The kitchen is truly the heart of the home with plenty of space for family and friends to gather and then disperse into the adjacent living areas to relax.
