45/55 South Pleasant — Site Visit Snapshots
We were on site last week checking in on the progress of our 45/55 South Pleasant redevelopment in downtown Amherst. Framed views through new window openings gave us a glimpse of what future residents will see—bustling sidewalks, historic rooftops, and scenic New England hillsides.
This mixed-use project, anchored by the historic Hastings building, is moving along quickly. The new five-story residential addition is rising behind it, complete with exposed steel framing and a future covered pedestrian arcade that will connect past and present.
There’s nothing quite like watching our design take shape in real time—especially when it’s reshaping the heart of downtown.

“The Ridge” blends modern architecture with a deep connection to nature. Two glass bridges link the home’s primary living spaces with more private and secluded areas creating a dynamic threshold between zones. The bridges provide transparency and breakdown the form of the architecture while providing critical moments of pause that frame views of the wooded landscape of the site.
Inside, vaulted ceilings, wide plank hickory floors, and custom millwork with accents of natural materials bring a sense of calm and cohesion. Expansive windows, and a combination of sliding and folding glass-panel doors invite natural light into the interior while the floor plan is able to extend into a private terraced courtyard and pool area.
We designed this home to feel grounded in its site—inviting both gathering and quiet moments in equal measure.
