Back-to-school season is here 🍂📚 and we’re proud to partner with higher education clients like Smith College on projects shaping a sustainable future.

Since 2020, we’ve been collaborating on a campus-wide energy project that will cut carbon emissions by 90% by replacing the fossil-fuel steam system with a state-of-the-art geothermal network. From modernizing historic buildings to building new energy plants, this project is central to Smith’s goal of being carbon neutral by 2030.

NuPro – South Deerfield, MA

Kuhn Riddle Architects collaborated with One Development & Construction, LLC and NUPRO, an Orafol Company, to create a workplace that integrates functionality, durability, and brand identity. Warm tones, natural textures, and coordinated materials shape the interiors, supporting a variety of work styles and day-to-day operations.

The design features a reception with custom finishes, conference rooms with integrated technology, a central breakroom, and coffee points positioned to offer convenient refreshment throughout the day. Every element was considered to create a cohesive, efficient, and welcoming environment.

Honoring the past while building for the future in South Deerfield.

We’re proud to lead the design for the rehabilitation and expansion of the historic 1888 Building. Once complete, it will serve as the new home for the Town’s municipal offices and anchor the larger Town Campus.

The project includes restoration of the original slate roof, masonry, windows, and entry porticos. A new two-story addition, connected by a glass bridge, will improve accessibility and create additional space for public use, including a meeting room and Selectboard suite.

It’s truly an honor to support the Town of Deerfield in preserving and reimagining this important civic landmark. Stay tuned for more updates!
