Girls Inc.
Holyoke, Massachusetts
Kuhn Riddle worked with Girls Inc. of the Valley for 10 years to find and build them a new home for their Headquarters and Program Center.
We started with a program study in 2016 to determine their needs for consolidating three physical programs: Elementary (School Age), Middle & high school (Teens), and Administration as well as their Eurika Program. From there we looked at six different locations and did test-fits of the spaces but none of them were quite right.
Finally, in 2020 we did a test-fits study 480 Hampden St. in Holyoke which was the original home of Daniel O’Connell’s Sons—now recognized as “DOC” and was currently being used by a law firm. In 2020, during the pandemic, the law firm put the building back on the market and Girls Inc. purchased the building.
April 30, 2026, marked the official Grand Opening of their long-awaited home in this 2-story, 18,000 SF renovated masonry building. The headquarters include a Café, School-age classroom, Teen lounge, Maker Space, Library, Multi-purpose room, and administration
